Job Description

Marine Travelift is excited to be adding a Structural Engineer to our team in Sturgeon Bay, WI. The Structural Engineer will be involved in the development and improvement of our custom lifting machines.  Our Structural Engineer will analyze and design structural framework for mobile gantry cranes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine size and/or capacity of welded and bolted steel structures for mobile gantry cranes
  • Design, model, and detail structural framework of mobile gantry cranes using SolidWorks
  • Work closely with fabrication, assembly, and service departments to optimize designs
  • Analyze and address field service issues using FEA or other tools
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create designs for new and existing products
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs
  • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget
  • All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years working in engineering
  • Experience with AISC, AWS and ASME B30 Codes is helpful
  • Analysis and structural design experience is required
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and general mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles to solve problems
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
