POSITION: Social Media & Digital Content Specialist 

REPORTS TO: Senior Marketing & Sales Manager 

HOURS: 40 hrs per week 

PAY: Hourly 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and creative Social Media & Digital Content Specialist that will work to build brand awareness while driving measurable impact and performance throughout Destination Door County’s social media channels. In-depth knowledge of overall marketing and organizational strategy, branding, content and performance objectives will be key to succeeding in this role. The qualified candidate MUST be knowledgeable about Door County and have experience in marketing and social media management, as well customer service.  

Requirements of the position include (but not limited to) scheduling social media posts for review, creating high-quality, original content, developing a well-rounded social media strategy, engaging influencers, managing our community by responding to comments and messages and providing a high-level of customer service across all platforms. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Create and schedule high-quality and engaging content across all platforms 
  • Create real-time content (short videos, photos) as needed 
  • Engage with social community across all platforms 
  • Effectively monitor all platforms for opportunities to expand or evolve marketing efforts  
  • Develop social media strategy that aligns with overall marketing strategy and content objectives 
  • Create content calendar and plan specific marketing campaigns 
  • Serve as primary contact for digital inquiries and messages 
  • Coordinate with Visitor Information Staff to gather pertinent visitor information 
  • Utilize programs to gather user generated content, engage with our social community and gather data for reporting 
  • Coordinate with PR/Communications to Identify and engage with influencers  
  • Utilize Digital Asset Management system for content creation 
  • Provide briefings to senior staff on social media trends, best practices and content optimization as they become available 
  • Continually participate in educational sessions, webinars and conferences to stay up to date on social media  
  • Provide monthly reporting

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS 

  • Associate degree or higher in Business, Marketing or related field 
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest) 
  • Highly familiar with all aspects of Door County and its local communities 
  • 3+ years experience working as Social Media Specialist or similar role 
  • Understanding of social media’s key performance indicators 
  • Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills 
  • Must be self-motivated and have strong leadership skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to think ‘Big Picture’ 
  • Ability to think on your feet and make quick decisions when needed
