Brygga Plates & Pours is seeking a skilled and reliable Line Cook to join our kitchen team for the summer season. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes that meet the standards of our restaurant while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients and cook dishes according to Brygga Plates & Pours' recipes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
- Station Management: Manage an assigned cooking station (e.g., grill, sauté, fryer, or prep) and ensure the area is clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout your shift.
- Cooking: Cook food to order, following recipes, cooking techniques, and food safety standards. Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely manner, meeting the restaurant’s standards of quality and presentation.
- Quality Control: Ensure the proper portioning and presentation of all dishes before they are sent out to guests. Make adjustments to cooking methods or ingredients as necessary to maintain the quality of the food.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow cooks, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during high-volume periods. Communicate clearly to ensure all orders are completed efficiently.
- Inventory Control: Help monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies for your station. Notify the kitchen manager when supplies are low or orders need to be placed.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food storage, handling, and cleaning of kitchen equipment. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
- Cleaning: Clean cooking equipment, utensils, and work areas as required throughout your shift. Participate in end-of-shift cleaning and restocking to prepare for the next service.
- Adaptability: Work effectively under pressure, adjusting to the pace and flow of the kitchen during peak times. Help with other tasks as needed, including prep work, dishwashing, or supporting other stations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a line cook or kitchen role in a restaurant or similar environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant's needs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks in a physically demanding environment.
- A passion for food and dedication to maintaining the quality and consistency of dishes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Culinary school education or formal cooking training (preferred but not required).
- Experience with various cooking techniques and knowledge of different cuisines.
- Ability to work on multiple stations and adapt to different kitchen environments.
- Food safety certification (preferred but not required).
