POSITION: Food Runner

POSITION REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Manager

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Food Runner is a vital part of the Horseshoe Bay team, ensuring smooth operations across the dining operations. This role contributes significantly to the efficiency, cleanliness, and organization of the dining experience. Food Runners will assist in food running tasks, maintain an orderly environment, and support the entire team to ensure that all members receive prompt and attentive service.

Food Runners will support both the kitchen and front-of-house staff by assisting with food service, maintaining dining area cleanliness, and ensuring that each table is properly set and ready for guests. You will be crucial in maintaining the flow of service, facilitating communication between teams, and ensuring our members have pleasant and efficient dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare dining areas before guests are seated, ensuring a welcoming environment
  • Set up tableware and condiments on tables in preparation for service
  • Serve water and provide bread service to guests
  • Refill beverages as needed throughout the meal
  • Remove dirty utensils and replenish them as needed
  • Provide special silverware sets to families with young children
  • Clean and reset tables after guests leave, ensuring readiness for the next seating
  • Maintain health and safety regulations throughout kitchen and dining areas
  • Restock server stations with necessary supplies
  • Answer phones and assist with guest inquiries
  • Must be proficient in table numbers and seat numbers to best assist with food running tasks
  • Must have food and alcohol knowledge to ensure correct items are delivered to the correct members
  • Be a forward thinker to stay ahead of the business in cleanliness and service
  • Maintain open lines of communication with both the kitchen (HOH) and front-of-house (FOH) staff to ensure efficient service
  • Maintain education on allergy precautions and popular accommodations for food & beverage.
  • Successfully stay updated and pass all trainings including but not limited to monthly staff trainings, company-wide service trainings, daily preshift meetings, and food, beverage & service quizzes.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous work experience as a server assistant, food runner, or other entry-level restaurant role is a plus
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
  • Sufficient understanding and ability to speak English to successfully perform the role
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
