The position is responsible but not limited to the preparation of food according to ServSafe standards. It is key to the effective functioning of the Nutrition Program. Regular attendance and punctuality along with being prepared to commence work at designated work locations, on the assigned or scheduled days and hours is expected. Responsible for providing truthful and accurate written and verbal communications.
Required Training and Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass the proper Food Safety and Sanitation (FSS) course (i.e. ServSafe) exam within six (6) months of employment.
- Ability to maintain the proper FSS certification throughout employment.
- Ability to attend required training.
Preferred Training and Experience
- Technical diploma in culinary science.
- Three or more years of cooking experience for large groups of people strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Ability to maintain a system that ensures an accurate inventory of products.
- Knowledge of proper food safety practices and an ability to provide leadership and supervision of other staff in the kitchen to ensure such safety.
- Skills associated with dealing with venders and volunteers.
- Ability to use teamwork and flexibility in the overall nutrition program
Employees hired to work a full time schedule (40 hours per week) are eligible for full time benefits.
