ELECTRICAL-MECHANICAL/AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN C-4

POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Perform a variety of tasks related to facility and machine maintenance. Examine CNC, Robotic and other types of production equipment to enhance predictive and preventative maintenance practices, analyze historical failures and implement corrective action.  Diagnose problems, dismantle machines, replace defective parts, and reassemble machines. Plan work relating to installation of new equipment, electrical services, and building maintenance, using equipment drawings, equipment specifications, and wiring diagrams. Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to design, develop, construct, and implement automation solutions. Perform other related maintenance and automation development tasks as required.

 ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with machine design drawings, schematic diagrams, and electrical circuitry specifications to diagnose, repair, or coordinate the repair and prevent future failures of both electrical and mechanical problems. Requires the use of PLC and other electrical controller skills to diagnose problems or alter existing equipment functions. 
  • Analyze failure of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components and machines such as controls, motors, relays, VFD's, HMI's, bearings, rails, mechanisms, compressors, valves, pumps, turbines, etc. Engineer, coordinate, and conduct repair of failed components. 
  • Test and locate problems on circuit boards and repair or replace if required.  Coordinate the repair of the board by others as needed.
  • In coordination with the Maintenance and M.E teams, support the continuous development of the Computerized Maintenance Management System to ensure effective Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Strategies, includes drafting Advanced PM procedures, establishing vendor relationships, analyzing/recommending spare parts to stock, and other duties as required.  
  • In coordination with the Maintenance and M.E teams, support the development of predictive and preventative solutions to monitor facility and production equipment by use of analysis and vibration, ultrasonic, thermal imaging, oil viscosity, and other measurement capabilities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering in evaluating automation opportunities in the production facility.  Conceptualizing, designing, prototyping, constructing, testing, and implementing automation solutions to the production facility. 
  • Provide continuous support to implemented automation solutions and other technical machinery/equipment at a high level.
  • Involvement in programming automation such as CoBots, AMR’s, HMI’s, PLC's, and pre-engineered systems.
  • Assist, and coordinate if needed, outside technical service to analyze, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning machines or equipment.
  • May be required to design and make some replacement parts or to provide a source for procuring the part.
  • Required to use a variety of electrical testing instruments as well as other types of precision measuring instruments.
  • Assist the department team leader with maintaining maintenance records, with training new employees, and directing the activities of other department members.
  • Must use equipment in a proper and safe manner and maintain housekeeping standards in accordance with company policy.
  • Monitor the use of safety equipment, ensure compliance with company safety policy, and maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions.
  • Perform occasional building maintenance such as repairs to overhead doors, roof, drains, lights, plumbing, and other items as needed.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to provide clear and concise analytical details regarding facilities and maintenance issues. 
  • Ability to collaborate with peers, team leaders, department members, suppliers, and business partners.
  • Must exhibit high self-drive, demonstrate initiative to seek operational enhancement, exercise strong organizational skills with high attention to detail, adapt to changing priorities, and perform assigned tasks from oral and written instructions with minimum supervision. 
  • Must have a high proficiency level in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams/SharePoint) in addition to administrative skills in Computerized Maintenance Management Software. 
  • Must have the mobility and strength for lifting heavy weights. Physical strength evaluation may be required.
  • Valid vehicle operator’s license and certified to operate powered material handling equipment.
  • Use of personal protective devices may be required, including steel toe safety shoes.

EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Electrical/Mechanical, Mechatronics or equivalent experience required. 
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the Electrical/Mechanical and/or Automation Technician fields related to advanced manufacturing and automation equipment in the sheet metal fabrication industry, or similar, necessary.
