The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a part-time Development Associate to provide exceptional support to donors and community members, process contributions with care and accuracy, and help advance our mission to make a difference for animals and the people who love them. Key accountabilities:

• Enter donations, including mail, store gifts, and supporting other campuses with in-kind entry as needed.
• Provide general development support of community members and donors via phone calls, email, and walk-in inquiries.
• Cultivate and steward donors and foster a culture of philanthropy.
• Support data team with database hygiene projects.
• Manage local donation canister program.
• Manage and oversee local events, including but not limited to holiday open house and rummage sale.

Qualifications:

• Database experience preferred, but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, with the interest and ability to quickly learn new technologies and use them to enhance productivity and support daily tasks.
• Collaborative approach to building positive, respectful relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders that successfully supports the work.
• Ability to complete work with high attention to detail with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated alignment with our mission, people-centered philosophy, and organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness; innovation; professionalism; equity; and positive approach.
• Must be able to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work.
• Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions and ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, youth programs, low-cost veterinary resources, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes, and much more. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state’s busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
