For over 27 years, Door Shakespeare has presented the works of William Shakespeare and other classical and contemporary playwrights in the Garden of Bjorklunden's 405-acre estate on Lake Michigan in Baileys Harbor. Created in 1995 under the umbrella of the then-named American Folklore Theater in collaboration with Blue Circle Theatre, it was established as its own nonprofit theatre company in 1999. In addition to its professional productions, Door Shakespeare is proud of its continued growth in educational programming which includes a theatre summer camp and an annual youth production. Door Shakespeare's productions have been recognized and ranked in the top 10 theatrical experiences in the state of Wisconsin by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinal.
Position Description: Reporting to the Board of Directors and working in partnership with the Producing Artistic Director, the Managing Director provides strategic leadership and financial oversight. The Managing Director will be responsible for all administrative and business operations, including fundraising, marketing, box office, audience services, facilities, technology, planning and general administration, including hiring decisions regarding seasonal administrative staff and interns.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a passion for theatre, demonstrated business acumen with strong management skills, excellent communication skills, and grant writing experience. A BA in theatre management, business, non-profit administration or a related field is preferred. Experience with boards, volunteers, and donors is helpful.
